Two airports service Mt. Desert Island: Bangor International (BGR) and Bar Harbor (BHB). American (from Laguardia) and Continental (from Newark) fly non-stop into Bangor. Multiple carriers fly non-stop from Boston into both Bangor International and Bar Harbor. Check out www.kayak.com for the most complete flight listings. We suggest that you make flight reservations as soon as possible, as there is rather limited space on the direct flights and tickets will only get more expensive as the date nears.

Renting a car will make it easier to explore the island at your convenience, but it is by no means necessary. You can reserve a taxi in advance to take you from the airport to Northeast Harbor, and once you reach Mt. Desert there is a bus service to ferry visitors to various points of interest around the island. However, we do believe that having a car - or having access to one - will help to maximize your experience on the island. Depending on how many guests decide not to rent a car, and what time they will be arriving/ departing, we can help to coordinate shuttle service to Mt. Desert. If you fit that category, please email us (craig@brennerwest.com) so we can make sure you have a spot on a shuttle or help you to coordinate with fellow guests to minimize the cost of a taxi. If you decide to rent a car, the following rental companies are available at Bangor Airport: - Enterprise (800) 736-8222 - Hertz (207) 942-5519 - Avis (207) 947-8383 - Budget (207) 945-9429 - National (207) 947-0158 If you fly into the Bar Harbor airport, you can rent a car through Hertz (207) 667-5017, take a taxi to Northeast Harbor, or call a friend who has rented a car to come pick you up!
